Squad requirements
A1 Squad Requirements
- Swimmers in the A1 group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- Swimmers in this group will be able to swim/train if they are above the ages of 14 (girls) 15 (boys). This maybe subject to the coach’s discretion.
- Swimmers should attend minimum of two swimming sessions a week (as well as one designated gym session).
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and will be asked to attend selected team and open events.
- The swimmers in this group will be responsible for checking their own emails from the club as well as regularly checking the club notice board website regularly
- Swimmers in this group will be given the opportunity to help on poolside and gain teaching, coaching and lifeguard qualifications.
- All squad movement and entry acceptance is at the Chief Coaches discretion
A2 Squad Requirements
- Swimmers in the A2 group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- Swimmers in this group will be able to swim/train if they are between the ages of 11-14 (girls) and 12-15 (boys).
- Swimmers should attend minimum of four swimming sessions a week (as well as one designated land training session).
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and will be asked to attend selected team and open events.
- Swimmers will be asked maintain log books which will be collected in by the group coach.
- Swimmers should take responsibility for their own training equipment including packing their own bag and preparing their own snacks and drinks. They should also be responsible for logging and monitoring their own PBs and training times.
- Swimmers should know all their PBs and will be required to understand their target times.
- The swimmers in this group should understand the competition routine including the warm up and swim down protocol
- Swimmers in this group should have a minimum of four Lancashire Qualifying Times by the time of the cut off date.
- Swimmers should take part in 50m training provided by the club.
- All swimmers must have all round technical abilities and skills. The coaches will continue to look for good attitude and the ability to cope with the training demands of the squad
- All squad movement and entry acceptance is at the Chief Coaches discretion
B Group (criteria to move up to A2)
- Swimmers in the B group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- Swimmers in this group will be able to swim/train if they are between the ages of 8-11 (girls) and 9-12 (boys)
- Swimmers should attend minimum of four swimming sessions a week (as well as one designated land training session).
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and will be asked to attend selected team and open events.
- Swimmers will be asked maintain log books which will be collected in by the group coach.
- Swimmers should start to take responsibility for their own training equipment including packing their own bag and preparing their own snacks and drinks
- The swimmers in this group should understand the competition routine including the warm up and swim down protocol
- Swimmers in this group should have a minimum of four Lancashire Qualifying Times by the time of the cut off date.
- Swimmers should take part in 50m training provided by the club.
- Swimmers should by this level know the rules and technical requirements of the sport.
- All swimmers must have all round technical abilities and skills. The coaches will continue to look for good attitude and the ability to cope with the training demands of the squad
- All squad movement and entry acceptance is at the Chief Coaches discretion
C Group (criteria to move up to B)
- Swimmers in the C group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- All swimmers will be able to progress into this group, then will either move through the competitive groups or the junior/ senior groups.
- Swimmers should attend minimum of three swimming sessions a week (as well as one designated land training session).
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and will be asked to attend selected team and open events.
- The swimmers in this group should understand the competition routine including the warm up and swim down protocol
- Swimmers should start to take responsibility for their own training equipment including packing their own bag and preparing their own snacks and drinks.
- Swimmers in this group should have a minimum of three North Lancashire Qualifying Times by the time of the cut off date (if they are of the correct age).
- Swimmers may have to do certain time trials at training within this group
- Swimmers should start to understand the rules and technical requirements of the sport
- All swimmers must have all round technical abilities and skills. The coaches will continue to look for good attitude and the ability to cope with the training demands of the squad
- All squad movement and entry acceptance is at the Chief Coaches discretion
D Group (criteria to move up to C)
- Swimmers in the D group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- Swimmers in this group will be able to swim/train if they are between the ages of 5-9
- Swimmers should attend minimum of two swimming sessions a week (as well as one designated land training session).
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and may be asked to attend selected team and open events..
- Swimmers may have to do certain time trials at training within this group.
- Swimmers should start to understand the rules and technical requirements of the sport
- All swimmers must have all round technical abilities and skills. The coaches will continue to look for good attitude and the ability to cope with the training demands of the squad
- All squad movement and entry acceptance is at the Chief Coaches discretion
Junior Group Squad Requirements
- Swimmers in the Junior group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- Swimmers in this group will be able to swim/train if they are between the ages of 7-14
- Swimmers are recommended to attend at least two swimming sessions a week (as well as one designated land training session).
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and may be asked to attend selected team and open events.
- The swimmers in this group should understand the competition routine including the warm up and swim down protocol
- Swimmers should start to take responsibility for their own training equipment
- Swimmers should be willing to learn and improve their swimming technique and fitness.
- Swimmers in this group may move into Senior group when they have reached the age of 14 (coaches discretion)
Senior Group Squad Requirements
- Swimmers in the Senior group must adhere to swimmers charter.
- Swimmers in this group will be able to swim/train if they are over 14 years old.
- Swimmers are recommended to attend at least one swimming sessions a week
- Swimmers in this group should compete in the club gala and may be asked to attend selected team and open events.
- The swimmers in this group should understand the competition routine including the warm up and swim down protocol
- Swimmers should start to take responsibility for their own training equipment
- Swimmers should be willing to learn and improve their swimming technique and fitness.
- Swimmers in this group may move into Senior group when they have reached the age of 14 (coaches discretion)
