Training Times
Monday 8.30-9.30pm – Shadsworth
Tuesday 8-9.30pm – Daisyfield
Wednesday 7.30-9pm – Shadsworth
Friday 9– 10pm – Shadsworth
Land Training
Friday 7.45-8.30pm – Shadsworth
1. Development and improvement of technique on all four strokes.
2. Learn basic stroke drill progression on all four strokes
3. Practice IM swimming sets of 100 and 200m
4. Learn and perfect turns and finishes on all four strokes and IM turns
5. Learn and perfect relay takeovers
6. Independently monitor training using the pace clock
7. Complete a well balanced training program that includes varied pace swims (eg building swims, negative split swims, descending sets etc), basic swimming speed, pacing and over distance swims
8. Learn the rules of the sport
9. Increase distance to improve endurance
10. Compete in the club gala and other desired low level meets
11. Continue to train socially and competitively
Points to consider:
· All sessions should have a mixture of a warm up, drills/skills, main set, kick, relays/starts/turns/finishes or a game to keep it interesting
· Sessions should be able to get the key skills and work across but should also be made as fun as possible to keep the interest of the children high.
· 800m swims can be done during any endurance week or even on the timed swims day
· Technique is a priority in every session – never let a child swim with poor technique, it only reinforces bad habit.
